Olivier de France
Olivier de France is Research Director at the French Institute for International and Strategic Affairs (IRIS) in Paris. He works on strategic issues, with a European focus. He is interested in European security, foreign policy, defence and the politics of the European Union. At IRIS he runs the Europe, Security & Strategy programme and the European Strategic Observatory. He was educated at France’s Ecole Normale Superieure and at Cambridge University, where he taught. He has lectured at the French Military College, the French High Committee for Civilian Defence, the European Security and Defence College, Iris Sup’, Sciences -Po Paris, INALCO, University of Paris II Sorbonne. He publishes on European strategy and security – his work has appeared in The New York Times, the Washington Post, The Huffington Post, The International Herald Tribune, La Revue internationale et stratégique, Diplomatie Magazine, La Croix, Les Echos, Le Figaro, Le Monde, and on France Télévisions, Public Sénat, France Info, BFM TV, RFI, TV5 and the BBC.
Eduardo Viola holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of São Paulo (1982) and a post-doctorate in International Political Economy from the University of Colorado at Boulder (1991). He is a Full Professor of International Relations at the University of Brasília since 1993, where he coordinates the Research Group “International System in the Anthropocene and Global Climate Change”. He is a Lead Faculty at the Earth System Governance Network and member of the Advisory Board at the “Governance of Geo-engineering Program” of the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (Postdam). He has been a visiting professor in several universities: Notre Dame (1983-84), Universidade Federal de Rio Grande do Sul (1986), UNICAMP (1988), Colorado at Boulder (1991), Amsterdam (1992-93), Stanford (1994), San Martin (2001) and Texas at Austin (2009). He has published 82 articles in international and national journals, 8 books, and 94 book chapters.
Paulo Roberto de Almeida
Paulo Roberto de Almeida holds a PhD in Social Sciences from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (1984) and a Master in Economic Planning from the University of Antwerp (1977). He is a career diplomat since 1977 and he has served in several international posts. He has also served at the State Secretariat, especially in the fields of Trade, Integration, Finance, and Investments. He has taught Political Sociology at the Rio Branco Institute and at the University of Brasília (198601987) and, since 2004, he teaches Political Economy in the Post-graduate Program at the University Center of Brasília (Uniceub). Since August 2016, he is the Director of the Brazilian Institute of International Relations (IPRI), which is affiliated of the Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation (Funag) of the Brazilian Foreign Affairs Ministry.
